Beyond all of the different ages people argue we are living in, I believe we are living in the age of whiners and wimps. Yeah, you heard correctly whiners and wimps.
Take a look at people these days, look back on the conversations you’ve had lately, what do you hear but a bunch of whiners and wimps. This might even include you so you better be careful.
When I used to race motorcycles, everyone would call me ironman. At first I had no idea why. Then, I decided I would ask them. I found out that our friends and people at the races nicknamed me this because I would often times crash, fight from the back, and still win the race.
I was never the fastest rider or the most talented rider, but I was the strongest and I worked for it. If you ask anyone they will tell you this. I never gave up and I always believed that I could win. When I was young, my dad trained me to get up as fast as I could, when I would crash. He always told me to never give up and be tough. Like I said before, he was a tough love kind of dad.
Are you seeking a revival? Are you asking how? Well, I can tell you this, there have been several occasions where I was seeking a revival and wondering how? And every time I found it. I’m a mess just like everyone else, a sinner saved by grace.
What an awesome thing, right? We all fall short and still have the opportunity to experience revival and the love of Christ.
Maybe your life is jacked up right now. Maybe you’re living in a broken home. Maybe your kids are getting into all kinds of trouble. Maybe your wife is ready to leave you. Maybe she doesn’t feel secure or loved. Maybe it’s come to the point where you don’t even want to come home, and you’re ready to break. I can tell you this, it’s ok. Things can turn around, and they will.
Have you ever thought of life as a pool game? Probably not unless you either own a table or you play all the time.
Well here it is, life as a pool game.
First you setup the rack, you get ready to break, you line up your shot and you break the balls with the hope that at least one of the balls goes in. If one of the balls goes in you continue lining up your shots with the hope that you take it all the way to the eight. How often do you take it all the way to the eight? Probably not very often. Most of the time you probably find yourself hitting the balls around trying to get them all in without scratching or hitting in the eight. Is this true?
Now think of your life, how often do you get things all lined up thinking you are going to take it all the way home, yet to find yourself either scratching or hitting in the eight? I know for me I find myself getting all excited about something, get it all lined up and scratch, something goes wrong. Then you get all frustrated and upset that once again something did not goes as planned or as “lined up”. Then you leave with your head down and your tail between your legs.
This is when you get excited. Why? Because this is a great opportunity to walk away with an attitude of bettering yourself. A winning attitude. This is when you collect yourself, refocus, line things up and break into it again.
The goal is to never give up, to keep pushing forward because as James 4:14 says “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”
We are all humans some more gifted then others. Yet we all have the opportuity to win the game. What matters most is not that you win the game but who becomes the champion in the end?
Keep racking em, keep breaking em, and you will be sure to come home a champion.
