Twists, turns, bumps, and junk. God is preparing you for something great in 2012

Twists, turns, bumps, and junk. It’s the road you’ve been traveling down for some time now. You’re probably ready for it to change. And it is.

Right now, God is preparing you for something great this year and now is not the time to turn around and go back. Don’t do it. Put the car in overdrive and floor it.

Yeah it’s been tough. I get it. I’ve been through some tough stuff too. And you know what? It all happened to prepare me for something bigger and much more awesome than I ever imagined. This same thing is happening to you…right now as you read this. All that crap that you feel like only happens to you, yeah, it happens to everyone. We all go through it. It’s part of this thing we call life. It sucks at times.

Here’s the deal. Everyone’s road has twists, turns, bumps, and junk. We wouldn’t want it any other way….trust me.

Ok, ok, enough of that motivating business. You feel like a beat up pickup truck that just went to hell and back. You’re angry, frustrated and starting to doubt if everything is going to work out. It is…this year.

All those bumps and junk, have just been preparing you for a great year. Put that beat up old pickup truck (or whatever you have) in overdrive and stay at it. Good things are just ahead and God is with you all the way.

It’s one thing to set goals, it’s another to take action

Every year, right around this time everyone starts setting goals. Not everyone I guess, just the people who want anything out of life.

I really enjoy the process of setting goals. In fact, this is what I’m working on this week. I’m taking this years (2011) goals and giving them a good audit. What went right, what went wrong, and what can I do better this coming year.

2011 was a good year for me. Actually, it was an awesome year for me! It was a year of reflection, growth, and tapping into who God wants me to be. I spent time going in one direction, turned around and went another, and finally after years of trying different roads, I feel like I’m going in the right direction. 2012 is going to be a great year….I can feel it!!!

If you’re afraid to travel down different roads, you might not ever find the road you’re supposed to be traveling down.

With a new year just ahead, people get fired up. They want to put the past year behind them and start fresh.

Note: Whether it was a good year or a bad year, take it and build on it. Don’t let it go to waste.

People set goals for everything:

I want to lose weight.

I want to exercise more.

I want to further my relationship and walk with God.

I want to read more.

I want to start a business.

I want to raise money for my startup.

I want to be a better parent.

I want, I want, I want.

The problem with setting goals is that you can’t just set goals, you have to take action. The difference between someone who accomplishes their goals and someone who doesn’t, is action. And not just “one time” kind of action, daily action that moves you closer to reaching your goals.

What is a goal if it is never accomplished? How about just a goal. Don’t just set goals, take action and move your goal down the field and into the end zone where it belongs.

Make 2012 a year of action. Go.

Don’t wait for your first win to start sharing your thoughts

I am confident you’ve thought this before, “Does anyone really care about my thoughts before I get my first win?” No, no one cares. Just kidding. People do care. But, the only way to get them to listen and care is for you to grow some balls and get out there sharing. If you wait for your first win, you could be waiting forever.

A win is gained through consistent confidence. If you can consistently be confident, even in the times when you feel like you are a loser, you will eventually wake up one day with a win. A win doesn’t happen overnight.

These pathetic thoughts are in your mind. You need to extract them before they kill you. You’ve convinced yourself based on what you’ve seen, read, and listened to that you can’t share your thoughts until you get a win under your belt.

You don’t need a win. That’s in your mind. You need confidence. Be confident in yourself and start sharing. And don’t be afraid of other people and what they think of you. People are going to tear you down and people are going to tell you that no one cares what you have to say until you get a win. Don’t listen to these people.

Start sharing and start winning today.

I WAS BORN RICH

I was born rich. Not with money or even a need for money, but with opportunities and blessings from GOD. You were too. If you think you weren’t, look around you in awe of the beauty and awesomeness!

Because I was born rich and I had a desire to pursue my goals and dreams, I’ve lived an awesome life – and I am just getting started. I have nothing to complain, bitch, or whine about – neither do you.

I’ve had tough times, I’ve lost everything, people have hated me (some still do) but all in all God is good and I’m still rich. And again, so are you. I will get it through to you by the time I’m done writing this.

If you look around you, you probably think, I’m broke, these people are broke, blah, blah, blah. None of that means anything, it’s utterly meaningless. What means anything at all is that you live in a land where you can do anything. Tomorrow morning you could wake up and start a business, learn to fly a plane, go to school, whatever you want. How awesome is that? Pretty fricken awesome!

Just because you were born rich and you can pursue any opportunity doesn’t mean that things are going to be easy. You will have hard times, you may loose everything, people will hate you, it’s all part of it – it’s called life.

Everything that I’ve gotten out of life was obtained through dedication, hard work, and a desire to achieve something greater. You desire to achieve something greater right?

From the time I was born I had a desire for victory and a rich life, meaning victory and richness in life, not as a driver.

Here’s the message for today to all of you who are searching now for something greater. Wherever you may be, whether you’re at your highest or the opposite of that, at your lowest, you must show great strength and determination. Do everything with love and with a deep belief that God created you rich and with a desire for you to do something awesome. One day you’ll achieve your aim and you’ll look back and say, “Thank you God.”

SCREW THOSE WHO SAY YOU CAN’T

Do you have people in your life that tell you, you can’t? How does this make you feel?

The reason people will tell you that you can’t is because in reality they are the one’s that can’t. Instead of them getting off their ass and going out there and trying something, they would rather sit around and tell you, you can’t. These people suck in my book. You know what I tell these people? Suck it.

Quit listening to the negative Nancies and dream killers and start listening to God and your Gut. You can do anything that you put your mind to and there is nothing, and I mean nothing that you can’t do in this world.

As we come up on 2012, I challenge you to put all naysayers aside, dream big, and go for it. Yes, you are going to fail miserably (I’ve failed so many times I lost count) but that’s just part of the game. You will get back up, brush yourself off and keep going. And in the end, you can look back and be thankful that you stepped out and did something incredible.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY 2011!

Today is Turkey day in the US – that is what I call it, and everyone else, well, they call it Thanksgiving Day. As a result, I will be taking the day off from anything that involves not spending time with family and friends and reflecting on how thankful I am for all the blessings in my life.

I do want to take a moment to say, “have a wonderful day with your family and friends and truly take the time to give thanks for all the blessings you have been given.”

God bless and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

PAINFULLY OBVIOUS CONCLUSION

Over the years, I’ve learned a painfully obvious conclusion – and this is after God and the people who love me were speaking to me the whole time. What I’ve learned, and maybe you can relate, is that when I try to make things happen on my own, my accomplishments end up being nothing more than insignificant.

Tip and fact: Self made people don’t make much of an impact.

If you want to be a great leader and make an impact while you’re here – for the short time that we are, be sure to surround yourself with amazing people who lift you up and help you be successful. You could be the most talented person in the world, however without the help of others your success is limited.

Whatever you believe, your influence springs from an awareness of your dependence and a willingness to express thanks to those who help you rise up and do great things.

For me, my visions are much larger than my ability, which leaves me two options: give up or go find help – I choose to go find help and go after my visions. More and more each day, I learn how important and thankful I am to have such amazing people in my life that allow me to do incredible things. And without these people I would be nothing. For this I thank all of these people for helping make my dreams a reality.

ATTITUDE, AFTER ALL, IS EVERYTHING

You know those people who are always in a good mood and it never fails that they have something positive to say? What do you think of those people? Are you one of those people?

A couple of days ago my friend Mary sent me a story and I thought that it needed to be shared with others as a way to encourage people to choose their attitude daily. It’s a short read.

John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, ‘If I were any better, I would be twins!’

He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, ‘I don’t get it! You can’t be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?’

He replied, ‘Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or .. you can choose to be in a bad mood. I choose to be in a good mood.’

Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or…I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it.

Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or… I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

‘Yeah, right, it’s not that easy,’ I protested.

‘Yes, it is,’ he said. ‘Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations.

You choose how people affect your mood.

You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It’s your choice how you live your life.’

HOW ARE YOU STARTING YOUR DAY?

Are you one of those people who jump out of bed at the last-minute, rush to get ready, and then you’re out the door to a busy day of work? What effects does operating this way have on your life (Have you even thought about this)? Do you ever feel like you’re missing something and if you just slowed down a bit you just might find it?

For as long as I can remember, I would sleep till the last-minute, hurry up and get ready, and then run out the door on my way to where I needed to be. I would forget things, spill all over my shirt, run into something, the list goes on – you know what I’m talking about.

I did this for years (you might be living this way) until I realized that there was a better way to start off my day and the results were totally worth it!

Here is how I start off my day:

1. Pray and mediate: I Thank God for my faith, my family, my friends, and all the wonderful things he has blessed me with. I ask him for wisdom, understanding, and a servant heart.

2. Love: I tell my wife how much I love her and how blessed I am to spend the rest of my life with her.

3. Exercise: I take care of my health so that I can live a long life filled with great experiences. Each morning, I will either run, cycle, stretch or lift weights.

4. Eat: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if you miss it you will feel it. For me, I try to eat a healthy breakfast that can give me the energy I need to get through my day.
