In the last nine months or so, I’ve learned more things and experienced more life changes than I had pimples during puberty. That’s what following your gut and jumping into risk with both feet does. Why so many life changes? I started my own business – a creative communications company.
In truth, it seemed like a crazy idea. In this economy? Especially when I started to count how many other little creative agencies and studios there are in my city. There’s a lot of them. But, I did it anyway.
Don’t wait until tomorrow. Things are never going to be just right. If you are waiting for that perfect moment, you will be forever waiting. Stop waiting and get started now. Drop everything and get going. It will be a journey, but with each step and each day you will be making progress towards your goal. And if you keep at it, you will grow stronger and stronger until that day when you wake up and you’ve made it.
Have you ever been on a canoe adventure? I’m not talking about canoeing at Grandpa’s lake either. I’m talking about a serious 12 hour canoe adventure with horse flies swarming your head to start, pit stops to explore old buildings (I know random), walking in the water pushing the canoe for a couple miles, and then after all that carrying the canoe above your head for 1.4 miles.
This is the canoe adventure I went on this past weekend and it was life changing. I was amazed at everything I learned, the people we met, the conversations we had, and how physically demanding it was.
What’s up with all the pride these days? If you don’t believe me, look around you. Everyone is all about themselves and what’s in it for me and when can I get it – especially now, with this whole social media revolution. What ever happened to what’s in it for you and how can I help?
How much different would things look if we boxed up our pride and put it away? If we started focusing not inward but outward? Would this not be a game changer? What do you think we could do as a nation or as a world? I would bet that together we could make some pretty monstrous shifts and changes, but that’s just me.
