4 POINTS ON COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE AND WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER IT

How intelligent do you really think you are? I would go to bat saying that you are not nearly as smart as you think you are. I know I’m not as smart as I think I am sometimes! Now, where I am smart, is at leveraging a group of people who have come together after social collaboration and competition to make intelligent decisions.

If you are not making decisions this way today, you better start. With all the social tools, and new technology advances that we have at our finger tips we are able to make far more intelligent decisions than ever before.

23 COMMON ATTRIBUTES THAT ALL SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS SHARE

Whatever your beliefs, after years of being a business man and surrounding myself with other successful business men and women, I’ve found there to be a number of common attributes that we share. Please take a few minutes to read through and see if you agree.

If you don’t have the skills, don’t worry about it either. Most of the skills, I’ve gotten by screwing up. Yup, screwing up. We all do it and it’s just the way it is. If you think you are any different you are wrong. Sorry.

WHO EVER SAID THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS A FREE LUNCH?

No more stupid, old, traditional networking where a bunch of lame and boring people stand around with suits and ties trying to push their 401 (k) plans, insurance, and uninteresting business on you? This is no more. That might have been normal and original at one time or another, but not anymore.

This is the new normal. This is FREE LUNCH FRIDAY and we are all about connections, conversation, and community. We believe in empowering people, companies, and communities to eat, share, collaborate, and make things happen that can change the world.

FOCUS ON YOUR STRENGTHS, FORGET ABOUT YOUR WEAKNESSES

This is a guest post by Joshua Leatherman, a former book buyer for Family Christian Stores, a small business owner, communications strategist. You can read more on his blog or follow him on Twitter or Facebook. If you want to guest post on my blog, please check out the guidelines here.

There seems to be a growing thought-pattern afoot that encourages individuals to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses, and then focus on strengthening those areas where they are weak so as to become “well-rounded”individuals. It’s not only a theory that encourages mediocrity but is also one that deters success.

Some context: Years ago Hospital Surgeons did not specialize in specific areas of medicine as they do today. Their studies were in general medicine and their education geared them toward becoming “well-rounded” surgeons so as to have some degree of knowledge for any affliction that they may be presented with.

GO ALL OUT OR DON’T GO AT ALL

If you are going to go, why not go all out? This makes me think of people who say, “I will just run the 5k and that will be good for me. When really in their head they would love to work up to the 25k or the marathon. This is awesome!

Why not go after the marathon? Not that this is going to happen over night either, but you can do it! It can happen! It will take some pretty serious hard work and dedication, but why not? Why not go all out?

TEAMING UP WITH A PARTNER? 8 THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

Early on in my entrepreneurial career I wanted nothing to do with partners. I think it was the negative connotation around the idea of having a partner that caused me to think this way. I remember hearing all the horror stories of people being in business with someone and the thing blew up in their face.  Not wanting things to blow up in my face, I would try to go about these ventures or opportunities on my own.

I soon learned how difficult it was to go about something alone and gave up on this whole idea. Today, I will not even get involved in a project or opportunity without having a partner or a team around me. There is just so much value in brining together a team of people who can pool their talents, resources, and share the responsibility.

BE YOUR BEST BY BEING YOU

Stop aiming to be someone you’re not already. If you keep this up, you’ll never be happy or satisfied with you – the person God created you to be. When you compare yourself to others and try to be someone you’re not, all it does is make you unhappy and dissatisfied.

I see people comparing themselves to others all the time and it drives me nuts. Heck, I’ve even done this before. When people do this they are giving the other person way too much power. Please stop doing this. Why would you want to give someone else so much power and cut your own self-worth? I’m telling you this is a complete waste of time and can only bring harm on yourself.

4 THINGS YOU CAN HEAR COMING OUT OF A CHAMPIONS MOUTH

A week or so ago, my wife said to me,

“Danny, you always say those things”

I said, “what things Sarah?”

“We will figure it out or we got this and so on”

Smiling, I responded by saying, “Sarah, I say these things because that is what champions say!” She paused for a moment, smiled back at me, and went into deep thought before saying, “You are right hunny, we are champions!” I love my wife for stuff like this!
